Changes that are made to a document can be tracked. This helps when people are collaboratively working on a document, so you can see and review just the changes made, rather than the whole document.
To switch on change tracking:
- On the Review tab in the Tracking group, click the Track Changes button
- Word will now track and mark-up changes you make
Tracked changes must then be reviewed and accepted or rejected. To review changes:
- Switch on the Reviewing Pane (on the Review tab in the Tracking group, click the Reviewing Pane button)
- Click on each entry to navigate to that part of the document
- If you wish to see the final version on choose Final in the Display for Review drop down box in the Tracking group
- To accept a single change click Accept button in the Changes group on the Review tab
- To accept all changes in the document, choose Accept All Changes in Document from the Accept button
- To reject a single change, click Reject button in the Changes group on the Review tab
- To accept all changes in the document, choose Reject All Changes in Document from the Reject button
Best Practice is to reject the changes you do not wish to preserve and then use the Accept All feature to confirm all the other changes in the document
